Some Facts About Schools in Haiti
School in Haiti, according to the Constitution was supposed to be compulsory and free. However, the Haitian government and the Ministry in charge of education are unable to fulfill this obligation. Therefore, the private sector moves in and control 90% of the schools’ enrollment, which cause a high in prices. Thus, many parents are unable to send their kids to school and the results of this issue are heartbroken. Approximately 33% of children ages 6-12 do not attend school, and this percentage climbs to 40% for children ages 5 to 15 which accounts for approximately one million children. The dropout rate is particularly high at 29% in the first basic cycle. Close to 60% of children drop out of school before receiving their primary education certificate.
It is estimated that an educated girl or boy will more likely to develop self confidence and avoid early marriage. He or she can become a business person or a professional and create profound change.
With our program, we help put children in school and help keep them there. Your contribution will help us to pay full tuition for a child in Haiti, provide uniform and some school supplies.
For each child you help put to school, we will send you a picture of him/her and a special thank you letter from your honoree.
How You Can Help Us
